It's the first weekend of full CCHA play, where all eight CCHA teams will be in action vying for conference points. No. 3 Minnesota State posted a 9-0 victory over St. Thomas Thursday in the first of a home-and-home series. Both teams will face-off again Saturday at St. Thomas. Ferris State will host Northern Michigan for a pair of games, Lake Superior State will travel to Bowling Green and No. 20 Bemidji State will host Michigan Tech.

Minnesota State won game one Thursday 9-0. In a series that dates back to the 1971-72 season, Minnesota State stands 17-9-2 in the all-time series vs. St. Thomas. The last time the two programs met prior to this week was during the 1996-97 season, when Minnesota State was playing as a NCAA Division I independent program (St. Thomas won that game 5-4). The week's meetings mark the first meetings between the programs as members of NCAA Division I (St. Thomas is in its first year of DI, Minnesota is in its 26th year of DI-men's hockey). Â Both teams are first-year members of the CCHA.

Michigan Tech at #20 Bemidji State

Two of the most historic programs in college hockey, BSU and MTU combine for nearly 5,000 games between them, yet they have met just 40 times prior to this weekend. The first head-to-head match up between the Beavers and Huskies didn’t take place until Jan. 12, 2007. BSU owns a slight 18-16-6 edge in the BSU-MTU all-time series, while it is 13-8-1 in games played in Bemidji thanks in part to being unbeaten in seven of the last eight games (6-1-1) played on its home ice in the rivalry dating back to March 3, 2018.
Last season, the Beavers got the best of the Huskies, in fact, they won five of the six meetings between the teams, including the last four consecutively, and outscored MTU 13-4 in those games.

The Lakers and Bowling Green Falcons will meet for the first time this season as the two CCHA opponents will play their first of two conference series scheduled for 2021-22. Last season, the Lakers and Falcons met twice with the Lakers winning both games on the road. Lake Superior State posted a 2-1 overtime win over Bowling Green on Feb. 12 and followed with a 5-2 win over the then-ranked No. 12 Falcons in the second game of the weekend series.
In the all-time series between the two teams, the Falcons hold the advantage by an overall record of 77-85-14 against the Lakers.
