Saturday Highlights: MTU posts sweep

Six of eight CCHA teams were in action Saturday night to wrap-up week nine of the season. No. 1 Minnesota State salvaged a weekend split, posting a 3-0 victory at Lake Superior State, Northern Michigan posted a 4-3 shootout win over Bowling Green in the first CCHA shootout of the season, and Michigan Tech scored six goals for the second consecutive night, winning 6-1 over Ferris State. 

Dryden McKay picked up his third consecutive shutout, now having six shutouts on the season and extending his NCAA men's hockey shutouts career record to 30. Three Mavericks recorded two points each: Wyatt Aamodt (0G, 2A), Reggie Lutz (1G, 1A) and Ryan Sandelin (1G, 1A). 

Michael Colella scored the shootout winner for NMU Saturday, Trevor Cosgrove recorded two assists and Rico DiMatteo made 18 saves on 21 shots. Bowling Green's Alex Barber recorded two assists and Christian Soever made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Michigan Tech's Ryland Mosley recorded three assists, and Tristan Ashbrook scored twice. Blake Pietila made 17 saves on 18 shots and Cayden Bailey saw his first action of the season between-the-pipes making one save in 3:28 of time.
