Friday Highlights: NMU Knocks off #1 UMD

Northern Michigan posted a 5-4 victory over number-one nationally ranked Minnesota Duluth and outshot UMD 35-30, No. 2  Minnesota State earned a 2-1 victory in overtime over Michigan Tech, Lake Superior State won 3-0 over Ferris State and Bemidji State bested St. Thomas 5-2.

For Northern Michigan, Trevor Cosgrove recorded a three-point night (1G, 2A) and Vincent de Mey recorded two goals. 

Nathan Smith scored the game-winning goal for Minnesota State 31 seconds into overtime, Dryden McKay made 15 saves on 16 shots and MTU's Blake Pietila made 28 saves on 30 shots.

Josh Nixon scored twice and Ethan Langenegger recorded a shutout on 35 saves for Lake Superior State.

Both Alex Ierullo and Owen Sillinger recorded a goal and an assist and Gavin Enright made 18 saves for the Beavers on 20 shots.
