CCHA committed to upgraded future

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), its Board of Directors, Management Council and eight-members unanimously voted last week to commit to substantial investments to enhance both the student-athlete and fan experience in time for the upcoming 2021-22 NCAA Hockey season this October. 

"The CCHA presidents, athletic directors and coaches have all committed to competing at the highest level of NCAA hockey," said CCHA Commissioner Don Lucia. "All eight of our Universities in the CCHA are investing to improve our gameday experience for all stakeholders throughout our conference."

The CCHA will have an upgraded gameday fan experience this season, additional improvements set in place for players and staff as well as an increased social and video presence on various digital media platforms.

"Fans will enjoy an increase in quality for all live stream productions of CCHA games and on-demand highlights," said CCHA Director of Strategic Communications & Brand Advancement Dominic Hennig. "The CCHA is committed to increasing its reach with a focus on expanding streaming productions and international & national television broadcasts."

 

 List of CCHA Upgrades:

  •     Live video stream production upgrades featuring new synchronized CCHA-branded TV motion graphics package.
  •     Further live video stream production upgrades featuring additional camera angles, additional available replays, intermission & post-game interviews, etc. (Committed by 2023-24 season).
  •     League produced highlight packages for all CCHA games.
  •     Weekend video recaps & audio podcast shows on CCHA.com.
  •     Referee microphones to announce decisions through the public address (PA) system and television & radio broadcasts, keeping players, staff and fans informed throughout the game.
  •     Best-available 'official video review system' in hockey with high-definition (HD) cameras recording at an impressive 1080p resolution at 60 frames-per-second (fps), including installation of blue line cameras, for quicker and more accurate reviews.  
  •     NHL replica goals, netting and skirts.
  •     Enhancements to visitor's dressing rooms in select arenas to provide professional experience for players.
  •     Upgrades to arena lighting in select arenas to enhance TV production quality.
  •     Addition of skate sharpener exhaust systems provided to all eight teams to improve air quality for team equipment managers.
  •     Five-year partnership with SIDEARM Sports, the number-one provider of collegiate athletic websites.
  •     Expanded CCHA in-arena and static branding.
     

Tuesday, the CCHA will be announcing the trophy that will be presented to the Association's regular season champion, followed by the playoff champion trophy on Wednesday. Thursday, the CCHA and it's eight members will announce the conference schedule in a joint release.
