MSU's Zmolek Signs with AHL's Iowa Wild

Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State defenseman Riese Zmolek has signed with Iowa of the American Hockey League.

A four-time letterwinner who served as team captain as a senior, Zmolek was an All-WCHA Third Team selection in 2020-21. A three-time WCHA All-Academic honoree, Zmolek registered seven goals and 33 assists for 40 points in 135 career games.  Zmolek, who led the Mavericks with 45 blocked shots as a senior, totaled 179 blocked shots in his four years of college hockey, along with 162 shots on goal and a +54 rating.

The Rochester, Minn., native who posted career highs for assists (12) and points (13 as a senior, helped lead the Mavericks to a WCHA regular-season title in 2020-21, a NCAA men's hockey West Regional championship and the program's first-ever NCAA Frozen Four appearance.

Iowa is an affiliate of the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild.
