CCHA Players of the Week: Jan. 20-22

The CCHA is proud to recognize four student-athletes and its Players of the Week for the games of Jan. 20-22. Ferris State’s Kaleb Ergang (Rookie) & Noah Giesbrecht (Goaltender) and Minnesota State's Jack McNeely (Defenseman) & David Silye (Forward) took home this week’s honors.

CCHA Forward of the Week: David Silye, So., Minnesota State (Arnprior, Ont.) 

Minnesota State sophomore defenseman David Silye recorded his first-career hat trick to power then second-ranked Minnesota State to a 7-1 victory over St. Thomas in Hockey Day Minnesota action in an outdoor game played in front of 10,022 fans at Blakeslee Stadium Saturday. Silye was plus-2, had five shots on goal and recorded one power play goal on the weekend.
 


CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Jack McNeely, Sr., Minnesota State (Lakeville, Minn.)

Minnesota State senior defenseman Jack McNeely registered four points in a two-game league sweep over St. Thomas.  He had a goal and an assist and as +2 with one blocked shot in last Thursday's 5-1 road win over the Tommies.  Had two assists in Saturday's 7-1 victory in Hockey Day Minnesota contest.
 


CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Noah Giesbrecht, Fr., Ferris State (White Rock, B.C.)

Ferris State goaltender Noah Giesbrecht, a freshman transfer from the University of Windsor (U Sports - the highest level of play of men's ice hockey at the university level in Canada), stifled the second place Bemidji State Beavers with a .953 save percentage, allowing three goals on 64 shots as Ferris State swept the Beavers on the road. He's won each of his last three starts for the Bulldogs, and made several highlight reels saves each night in the Bulldogs sweep of the Beavers. He had the highest save percentage in the CCHA on goalies facing more than 20 shots on the weekend.
 

CCHA Rookie of the Week: Kaleb Ergang, Fr., Ferris State (Spruce Grove, Alta.)

Ferris State freshman forward Kaleb Ergang played the hero Friday night at Bemidji State, scoring first collegiate goal with 68 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 victory over second place Bemidji State, kicking off what would be a weekend sweep. Ergang was a plus-2 on the weekend, had three shots on goal and blocked a shot. He also assisted on Ferris State's opening goal Friday, kicking the puck to Dallas Tulik who put the Bulldogs on the board in the second period.
