The Wildcats carry the lead on won competitions as they go into this weekend 75-50-13 against LSSU. After Saturday's game, one of the teams will be awarded the Cappo Cup. This has been a tradition between the two teams since the 1994-95 season. The winner is determined by the total goals scored over the four games played that season. The Wildcats trail at 16-12 and haven't taken home the cup since the 2018-19 season. To win the cup they are going to need more than 11 goals throughout the weekend. In the last matchup against Lake State, they were on the road and were swept in a hard-fought series. Although they didn't come out with a win they still tallied a few points.

In the first game, two-point performances from Justin Michaelian (2G), Brenden MacLaren (1G, 1A), Stepan Pokorny (1G, 1A), and Brenden Rons (2A) gave the Bulldogs a 6-3 victory. Bowling Green earned a 2-1 victory the following night, with Nathan Burke and Austen Swankler scoring goals and Christian Stoever making a career-best 41 saves.

Arizona State at #1 Minnesota State
In a series that dates back to the 2018-19 season, Minnesota State stands 2-0-1 in the all-time vs. Arizona State. The Mavericks claimed 5-0 and 4-1 wins over the Sun Devils in 2019-20. Â Minnesota State also faced Arizona State in the third-place game of the Sun Devil Classic - a four-team tournament hosted by ASU in late December of 2018. The Mavericks and the Sun Devils skated to a 2-2 overtime tie (ASU won the shootout following OT).
