Saturday Review: No. 5 Mavs Sweep UMD

The CCHA went unbeaten on Saturday night, as No. 5 Minnesota State completed a weekend sweep of No. 4 Minnesota Duluth, winning 2-1. Ferris State bounced backed to earn a split with Canisius, coming a few minutes shy of a shutout in a 4-1 win, while Lake Superior State played to a 4-4 tie with Nebraska Omaha.

The Bulldogs scored three second period goals to pull away from Canisius and earn a weekend split. Ferris State received points from 10 different players and Noah Giesbrecht made 29 saves, including 11 in the third period.

The Lakers exploded for four first period goals, but Nebraska Omaha slowly crept back into the game, before tying it up with just under seven minutes to play. Roy Harrison led the way for Lake Superior State, picking up a goal and an assist for two points, while Ethan Langenegger had 30 stops, including five in overtime. The Lakers wound up taking the shootout.

Alternate captain Sam Morton scored both goals for the Mavericks, including one on the power play, to lead them to victory on a sweep of Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs were able to pull one goal back in the third with a man advantage tally of their own, but MSU was able to hold on for their third win of the year.
