Men's Ice Hockey 10/31/2022 11:18:53 AM CCHA Players of the Week: October 28-29 The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for the games of October 28-29 and four student-athletes from four different programs have been recognized. Louis Boudon (Lake Superior State) was named Forward of the Week, while Jake Livingstone (Minnesota State) earned Defenseman of the Week honors. Blake Pietila (Michigan Tech) was named Goaltender of the Week and Beni Halasz (Northern Michigan) was tabbed Rookie of the Week. The Lake Superior State captain recorded one goal on the power-play, one shorthanded and one at even-strength, with league-highs in face-off wins (28) and shots on goal (11), while posting a +3 for the weekend. Livingstone helped the eighth-ranked Mavericks to a five-point weekend at home, registering two assists for two points against Bowling Green. Picking up one helper in each game, he assisted on the tying goal in the Mavericks’ comeback win on Saturday. Also, recording six shots on goal, he was even for the weekend with one block at the defensive end of the ice. Pietila stopped all 36 shots he faced on the weekend in picking up a pair of shutout wins over St. Lawrence by scores of 6-0 and 3-0. Recording 18 saves in each game, he made eight stops while the Huskies were shorthanded, helping the penalty kill go a perfect 8-for-8. This is the second Goaltender of the Week award for Pietila, who now leads the nation in shutouts (3). He made 20 stops in a 2-1 loss on Friday, before turning away 26 in a 3-2 victory on Saturday. For the weekend, he saved 10-of-11 shots while shorthanded.
