No. 5 Minnesota State bounced back from a 4-1 defeat to No. 2 Minnesota on Friday night to beat the Gophers, 3-2, at home on Saturday. Ryan Sandelin scored the eventual game-winning goal with just over six minutes to play. St. Thomas freshman Josh Eernisse netted his first collegiate goal 1:28 into overtime to lift the Tommies to thier first win of the year. It was also the program's first non-league victory at the Division I level, as well as its first in an extra frame. Bemidji State never trailed, but took overtime to pick up its first win of the new season, topping Arizona State, 5-4. Grad transfer Mitchell Martan recorded four points (2 goals, 2 assists), including the overtime-winning tally for the Beavers. Earlier in day, Northern Michigan finished off a weekend sweep at Colgate, topping the Raiders, 4-1.
