Weekend Preview: U.P. Flavor

Seven CCHA teams are in action this weekend, including three conference series. Upper Peninsula rivals Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech meet in Houghton for two, while Northern Michigan hosts Bemidji State for a pair. St. Thomas heads east once again, where it will take on Bowling Green in a two-game set. Ferris State is also in action, hosting Mercyhurst in an exhibition game on Saturday.

Bowling Green continues its four-game homestand this weekend, when St. Thomas visits for a two-game series. The Falcons took all four games in the series last year and are coming off a split with Michigan Tech last weekend. The Tommies look to continue their solid play through the early stages of the season and turn that into points, after falling just short last week against No. 6 Minnesota State.

Upper Peninsula rivals Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech get their 2022-23 season series underway at MacInnes Student Ice Arena this weekend. The Huskies are 53-28-8 in the all-time series, dating back to 1969. Blake Pietila leads the nation in shutouts with three.

The Wildcats have won three games in a row for the second time year and look to extend their streak to four when they open a CCHA series with Bemidji State on Friday night at Berry Events Center. The Beavers are 18-9-6 in the all-time series with Northern Michigan, including a 10-2-2 mark in Marquette.
