Friday Recap: Goalie World

CCHA netminders put on a display on Friday night, including Northern Michigan freshman Beni Halasz, who stopped all 25 shots he faced in a 2-0 victory over Bemidji State. Ethan Langenegger turned away 40 to help Lake Superior State to a tie with Michigan Tech and a shootout victory, while Christian Stoever had 31 saves for Bowling Green in a narrow victory over St. Thomas.

Arten Shlaine broke a scoreless tie in the third period to lift the Wildcats to a 2-0 victory over Bemidji State in the series opener on Friday night. Kristof Papp added an empty-netter for Northern Michigan, which saw Beni Halasz record his first collegiate shtuout. Mattias Sholl was the tough-luck loser, turning away 33 at the other end of the ice.

The Lakers withstood a barage through the early stages of the game, thanks in part to Ethan Langenegger's 40 saves and were able to steal a shootout point after a scoreless overtime period. Dawson Tritt and Timo Bakos tallied for the visitors, while Ryland Mosley and Jed Pietila picked up the goals for the Huskies.

The Falcons built a 3-1 lead early in the third period and were able to fend off St. Thomas to earn their third conference win of the year, pulling into a three-way tie for first in the league. Ryan O'Hara registered a two-point night with a goal and an assist for Bowling Green, while Mack Byers scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season for the Tommies.
