Five CCHA teams are in action this weekend as number-14 nationally ranked Michigan Tech hosts Bowling Green for the annual Winter Carnival series in Houghton, Ferris State is on the road at Lake Superior State and St. Thomas travels to Fairbanks, Alaska for a non-conference weekend series against the Nanooks. Bemidji State, Minnesota State and Northern Michigan have the weekend off.

No. 14 Michigan Tech hosts Bowling Green this weekend for the annual Winter Carnival series. The Huskies and Falcons will play a total goal series for the MacInnes Trophy. Tech has won the Winter Carnival series in seven of the last nine years. The Huskies are 92-56-14 (.611) all-time in Winter Carnival, dating back to 1950.Â

Ferris State and Lake Superior State will meet for the second of two CCHA series between the conference rivals this season. Earlier this season, the two teams split a road series with the Bulldogs in Big Rapids, Mich. The Lakers won the first game of the weekend with a 3-0 victory on Friday, Dec. 3 and Ferris State responded with a 3-1 win in Saturday night's game. In one of the longest running all-time series in college hockey, the Lakers and the Bulldogs will meet for the 156th & 157th times in program history this weekend. In the all-time series between the two teams, the Lakers hold the advantage in the series against Ferris State with a 79-61-15 record.
