CCHA Forward of the Week: Louis Boudon, Jr., Lake Superior State (Grenoble, France)

Lake Superior State junior forward Louis Boudon led the Lakers to a weekend sweep over Ferris State with five points (2G, 3A) in the pair of games. In Friday’s 5-3 win, Boudon scored the Lakers first goal of the game to tie the game at one. The Grenoble, France native tallied the primary assist on the game winning goal which was scored on the power play late in the third period. Boudon capped off his three-point effort with an assist on an empty net goal to seal the Laker win. The Laker captain followed with his second multi-point game of the weekend in Saturday’s 4-0 win over the Bulldogs as he scored the game’s first goal at 4:36 with a power play goal. The goal, which stood as the game winner, marked Boudon’s fourth game winning goal of the season. The center added an assist on his team’s second goal of the game, also scored on the power play to close out the weekend with five points in two games. Following the weekend series, Boudon leads the Lakers with 33 points (13G, 20A) in 29 games this season, which ranks sixth among all CCHA skaters this season.

CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Jake Willets, Jr., Lake Superior State (Monroe, Mich.)

Lake Superior State junior defenseman Jake Willets led the Laker blueliners this weekend with four points (3G, 1A) in a weekend sweep against his former team, the Ferris State Bulldogs. Willets had a career night in Saturday’s 4-0 win over the Bulldogs as he scored three goals and added an assist in the victory to post his first career multi-goal game and as well as a single-game career high four points. Willets became the first Laker defenseman in program history to record a hat trick. The defenseman’s first point of the game came early in the first period when he recorded an assist on Boudon’s eventual game winning goal. Willets added his first goal of the game, which came on the power play, at 5:36 of the first period to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. The Monroe, Mich. native tallied his second goal of the game at 13:39 of the first period and Willets capped off his natural hat trick at 8:43 of the second period with his fifth goal of the season. With the three goals, Willets set a new season-high in goals and became the fourth defenseman in the NCAA to record a hat trick this season.
