Weekend Preview: Six CCHA teams in action

Week 18 of the NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season features three CCHA games and six conference teams in action. Number-one nationally ranked Minnesota State is on the road at Bowling Green, No. 15 Michigan Tech is at St. Thomas and Bemidji State will host Northern Michigan.

#1 Minnesota State has won 14 of their last 15 games and boast a 25-5-1 record. In a series that dates back to the 2008-09 season, Minnesota State stands 20-10-3 all-time vs. Bowling Green. The Mavericks, who claimed 5-3 and 9-2 wins over the Falcons earlier this season (Nov. 12-13 in Mankato), have won seven meetings between the two schools. Minnesota State stands 6-5-3 vs. BGSU in games played in Bowling Green.
 




 

#15 Michigan Tech at St. Thomas

#15 Michigan Tech is on the road to visit St. Thomas for the first time since 1929 (92 years). The teams met for the first time since 1953 this season Dec. 10-11 in Houghton where Michigan Tech swept the Tommies.? Michigan Tech is currently on a five-game winning streak and have won their last seven CCHA games in conference play.
    

Northern Michigan at Bemidji State

This season, Bemidji State earned the series sweep at Northern Michigan when the two teams met previously on Oct. 22-23 in Marquette, Mich. The Beavers defeated the Wildcats 5-4 in game one and then followed with a 4-3 victory in game two.

Bemidji State leads the all-time series with a 17-8-6 record against the Wildcats in a series that dates back to 2009. The Beavers are on a two-game winning streak against the Wildcats and are 6-3-1 in the last 10 games. In Bemidji, however, the Beavers are just 7-6-4 against NMU and have lost two straight home games to the Wildcats.
