The 2022 CCHA Mason Cup Championship game is set to take place for the first time in nine years, dating back to 2013. Third seed Bemidji State will face first seed Minnesota State at 6:07 p.m. CT in front of a sold out crowd at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center (capacity 5,280).

The winner will be awarded the Mason Cup, named after longtime hockey coach and administrator Ron Mason. The winner will receive the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament to compete for the Division I National Championship.

One of the league's oldest-rivals and most-often played opponents, Minnesota State first played Bemidji State during the 1974-75 season. Minnesota State stands 66-61-21 in the all-time series vs. the Beavers. The Mavericks went 4-0 vs. the Beavers this year, claiming a pair of 5-1 wins in Mankato (Feb. 18-19) and 5-1 and 3-1 wins in a pair of league games played in Bemidj  (Dec. 10-11).Â
