MSU's Aamodt signs with Colorado (NHL)

Minnesota State defenseman Wyatt Aadmodt has signed with the National Hockey League's Colorado Avalanche.

Aamodt, this year's team captain for the Mavericks, finished the season with career highs for goals (six), assists (six) and points (12) in 41 games played. He had a +22 rating to go along with 50 shots on goal and a team-high 56 blocked shots.

The Hermantown, Minn, native, who was a finalist for the 2022 Derek Hines Award (national unsung hero award), registered the first hat trick for a Minnesota State defenseman in more than 20 years when he scored three times in a 7-1 win over Ferris State Jan. 7.

Aamodt, who helped lead this year's team to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association regular and postseason tournament titles and the NCAA Albany Regional championship, finished his college career with 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 123 games played.
