Â
Silye led the Mavericks to a road sweep of Ferris State last weekend, recording four points on three goals and one assist. He scored two goals in a 4-1 victory on Friday night in Big Rapids, Mich., before collecting a goal and an assist in a 5-1 triumph on Saturday. CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Jacob Bengtsson, Jr., Lake Superior State (Stockholm, Sweden)Â
Â
Bengtsson helped the Lakers to a weekend split with Bemidji State last week, dishing out a league-high three assists, while leading all conference blueliners with five blocks at the defensive end of the ice. On Friday, he was even with one assist in a narrow 3-2 loss to the Beavers, before he notched two helpers, including one on the game-winning goal, in a Lake Superior State 3-2 victory.Â
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Blake Pietila, Sr., Michigan Tech (Howell, Mich.)Â
Â
Pietila continued his hot streak, going 2-0-0 with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .979 save percentage, leading Michigan Tech to a home-and-home sweep of Upper Peninsula-rival Northern Michigan. He stopped 46-of-47 shots, including all 20 in a 3-0 shutout on Friday night – his nation-leading seventh of the season. On Saturday in Marquette, he turned away 26 in a 4-1 victory that saw the Huskies keep pace in the conference standings.Â
Â
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Lleyton Roed, Fr., Bemidji State (White Bear Lake, Minn.)Â
Â
Roed led all league rookies with two points on a goal and an assist last week, while pacing Bemidji State at +2. Helping the Beavers to a series split at Lake Superior State, he assisted on the game-winning goal in Friday's 3-2 victory, before scoring the team’s second goal in a 3-2 loss on Saturday. His 10 total shots on goal were the second-most among all CCHA skaters.Â
