The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for the games of January 6-7 and four student-athletes from four different programs have been recognized. Austen Swankler (Bowling Green) was named the Forward of the Week, while Jake Livingstone (Minnesota State) was the Defenseman of the Week. Blake Pietila (Michigan Tech) collected Goaltender of the Week honors and Lleyton Roed (Bemidji State) garnered Rookie of the Week.Â

CCHA Forward of the Week: Austen Swankler, So., Bowling Green (North Huntingdon, Pa.)Â

Swankler led all NCAA skaters with six points last week, scoring a goal and assisting on five more, leading the Falcons to a six-point weekend against Lake Superior State. Opening the weekend by dishing out a pair of assists in a 5-2 Falcons victory on Friday, he then produced a four-point effort on Saturday, setting up three tallies, before putting the game away with an empty-netter. For the week, he recorded 10 shots on goal, while blocking one defensively and was +5 with a 50.0% face-off percentage (17-of-34).Â

CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Jake Livingstone, Jr., Minnesota State (Creston, B.C.)Â
Â
Livingstone helped No. 17 Minnesota State to a road sweep of Northern Michigan last week, recording two goals and two assists for four points. He was +3 with four shots on goal and three blocks at the defensive end of the ice. Highlighting his weekend was a three-point game (1 goal, 2 assists) on Friday, as the Mavericks won 5-2. He followed that up by netting one goal in a 5-3 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday. Â

CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Blake Pietila, Sr., Michigan Tech (Howell, Mich.)Â
Â
Pietila was named Desert Hockey Classic Most Valuable Player after going 2-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage last week in Tempe, Ariz. He made 24 saves in a 4-2 victory over host Arizona State for then-No. 16 Michigan Tech, before turning away 31-of-33 shots in a 3-2 win over then-No. 6 Boston University in the championship game on Saturday. For the weekend, he made a total of 55 saves in 120 minutes of action.Â

CCHA Rookie of the Week: Lleyton Roed, Fr., Bemidji State (White Bear Lake, Minn.)Â
Â
Roed led all CCHA freshmen with two points last week, picking up helpers on both of the Beavers’ goals at Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. Finishing the week at +1, he registered seven shots in Bemidji State’s two-game series with the Bulldogs and won 51.6% of his face-offs. He is the third conference player to earn multiple ROTW honors this season.Â
