Preview: Postseason Implications

There are a number of intriguing series across the CCHA this weekend, with six teams playing key non-conference games all over the region. No. 17 Michigan Tech hosts Wisconsin for a pair in Houghton, while No. 19/20 Minnesota State battles UMass in Mankato. Bemidji State and Bowling Green play home-and-home series with NCHC foes No. 14 Minnesota Duluth and No. 9/10 Western Michigan, respectively. Northern Michigan heads to No. 18/19 Arizona State and St Thomas hosts Lindenwood for two.

In exhibition action, Ferris State welcomes Grand Valley State to town on Friday night, before Lake Superior State takes on Simon Fraser on Saturday.

Ferris takes on GLIAC-rival Grant Valley State in an exhibition game at Ewigleben Arena on Friday. This is the first meeting on the ice between the two schools since the 1974-75 season.

Tech's homestand continues this weekend against Wisconsin at "The Mac." The former WCHA foes have been playing each other since 1928 and the Badgers hold a 102-54-11 lead in the series. The Huskies have, however, won three of the last four meetings and are unbeaten in 8 of 11.

The Lakers welcome Canadian school Simon Fraser to town for a single exhibition matchup on Saturday. This is the Lakers' only exhibition contest of the season.

A home-and-home with No. 14 Minnesota Duluth begins in Duluth on Friday night and moves to Bemidji on Saturday. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 25-16-5, including a 17-7-2 mark at home. The Beavers will look to even their home record (7-8-3) against UMD on Saturday night.

The Tommies host Lindenwood for the first-ever meetings between the two programs this weekend in Mendota Heights. St. Thomas is coming off a pair of encouraging weekends against top-10 opposition, going 1-3-0 against St. Cloud State and Minesota. The Tommies are home for the second and third time this year when the Loins come to town.

Fresh off a sweep of nationally-ranked St. Cloud State - their first in seven years - the Mavericks welcome UMass to town for a two-game series. Minnesota State is 2-0-0 against the Minutemen, having met twice in Amherst, Mass., during the 2021-22 season. The Mavs picked up victories of 6-3 and 2-0 on the road.
