The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for the games on October 20-21 and four student-athletes from three different programs have been recognized. Liam Malmquist (St. Thomas) was named Forward of the Week, while Kyle Looft (Bemidji State) earned Defenseman of the Week honors. Jake Sibell (St. Thomas) was the conference’s Goaltender of the Week and Tanner Latsch (Northern Michigan) was the Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row.

CCHA Forward of the Week: Liam Malmquist, Jr., St. Thomas (Edina, Minn.)
Malmquist paced all CCHA skaters with three assists last week, helping the Tommies to a 1-0-1 weekend against Lindenwood. On Friday, he picked up a pair of helpers in a 4-4 tie with the Lions, while winning 7 of 13 face-offs and registering five shots on goal. He then assisted on the opening goal in a 3-1 St. Thomas victory on Saturday night, picking up three shots. For the season, his six assists are tied for the most in the CCHA.
CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Kyle Looft, 5th, Bemidji State (Mankato, Minn.)
Looft led conference defensemen in goals (2) and points (3) last week, while posting a +1 in two games against nationally ranked Minnesota Duluth. He recorded eight shots on goal and blocked five at the defensive end of the ice. Highlighting the weekend was a two-goal, one-assist game on Saturday in which the Beavers fell, 5-4, in overtime. He ranks second among conference blueliners with four points in four games this year.
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Jake Sibell, Jr., St. Thomas (Isanti, Minn.)
Sibell went 1-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .938 save-percentage in one start last week for the Tommies. Making his second start of the season, he turned away 15-of-16 shots in a 3-1 St. Thomas victory over Lindenwood on Saturday night. Turning away both shots he faced while shorthanded, he helped the Tommies to a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. On the season, he is 1-1-0, with a 1.53 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Tanner Latsch, R-Fr., Northern Michigan (Twin Lake, Mich.)
Latsch continued his hot start to the season, netting a pair of goals for two points last week at nationally ranked Arizona State. Netting both of his tallies on the power play, he has now found the back of the net in each of his first collegiate games. For the weekend, he was –2 with four shots on goal. Nationally, he ranks first overall in goals and power play goals (6), eighth in points and sixth in points per game (2.00). He is tied for first among rookies in points through four games.
