CCHA Forward: Artem Shlaine, Sr., Northern Michigan (Moscow, Russia)

Shaine led the Wildcats to a weekend sweep of Lake Superior State, scoring three goals and assisting on two more for five points. Netting the lone hat trick in the CCHA this week, he also had one game-winning goal and one power play tally, while winning a league-high 29-of-42 face-offs (69.0%). Also recording seven shots, his week was highlighted by scoring three goals, including the eventual game-winner, on Friday night against the Lakers.

CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Kyle Looft, 5th, Bemidji State (Mankato, Minn.)

Looft paced all CCHA blueliners with five points on three goals and two assists, helping the Beavers to a weekend split with Michigan Tech. Posting a +2 for the week, he collected 11 shots on goal, which were second-most among all conference skaters. He also blocked two shots at the defensive end of the ice. On Friday, he had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Huskies. He then scored twice and assisted on another Beavers tally, helping Bemidji State erase a 4-0 second-period deficit to win 6-4.

CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Aaron Trotter, So., St. Thomas (Victoria, B.C.)

Trotter went 1-0-0 with league bests in goals-against average (1.00) and save percentage (.977) last week, aiding the Tommies to a road sweep of Bowling Green. In his lone start, he turned away 42-of-43 shots in a 4-1 victory on Friday night. With the only blemish coming on Falcons’ power play, he was perfect on 38 even-strength shot attempts that found their way to the net.

CCHA Rookie of the Week: Evan Murr, Fr., Minnesota State (Stillwater, Minn.)

Murr led CCHA rookies and was second among conference defensemen with three points last week, netting one goal – the first of his collegiate career – with two assists. Post a +1 in a road sweep of Ferris State, he picked up an assist on Friday in a 6-2 Mavericks victory, before dishing out another helper and scoring the overtime-winning goal in a 3-2 triumph on Saturday night. His 10 shots on goal were fourth-most among all skaters and tops among league rookies.
