The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for the games on November 17-18 and four student-athletes from four different programs have been recognized. Jared Westcott (Lake Superior State) was named Forward of the Week for the second time, while Kyle Looft (Bemidji State) earned his second consecutive Defenseman of the Week honor and third overall. Charlie Glockner (Northern Michigan) was the league’s Goaltender of the Week and Luigi Benincasa (Ferris State) garnered Rookie of the Week recognition.

CCHA Forward: Jared Westcott, Sr., Lake Superior State (Imperial, Mo.)
Westcott led all CCHA skaters in goals (3), assists (3) and points (6) last weekend, helping the Lakers to a split with Bowling Green. Compiling a +2 in the two contests, he was second in the league with 10 shots on goal. On Friday, he recorded a goal and two assists in a 5-3 loss to the Falcons, before scoring two goals, including the overtime winner, with one assist in a 4-3 victory on Saturday.
CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Kyle Looft, 5th, Bemidji State (Mankato, Minn.)
Looft paced all conference defensemen in assists (3) and points (3) last week, helping the Beavers to a split at Minnesota State. He also recorded seven shots on goal and two blocks at the defensive end, with a +1 rating. His weekend was highlighted by recording three helpers in a 7-6 come-from-behind victory on Saturday night, including assists on Bemidji State’s first two tallies and the game-tying marker in the third period.
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Charlie Glockner, Jr., Northern Michigan (Minnetonka, Minn.)
Glockner went 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .967 save percentage last week, aiding the Wildcats in a home sweep of Alaska. Turning away 59-of-61 shots overall, he was perfect on 16 shots while Northern Michigan was shorthanded, leading the penalty kill to an 8-for-8 weekend. On Friday, he made 28 saves in a 3-1 victory, before stopping 31 on Saturday, coming up just 51 seconds from his first collegiate shutout.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Luigi Benincasa, Fr., Ferris State (Edmonton, Alb.)
Benincasa produced a CCHA rookie-best three points last week, scoring his first collegiate goal and assisting on two more in a split at Michigan Tech. Second among all league skaters at +3, he won 18-of-34 faceoffs (52.9%) and recorded three shots on goal. On Friday, he notched two assists, including the lone helper on the Bulldogs’ game-winning tally in overtime. He then scored on Saturday night in a narrow 3-2 defeat.
