The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for the games on November 3-4 and four student-athletes from three different programs have been recognized. Michigan Tech’s Chase Pietila and Isaac Gordon were named Defenseman of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, while St. Thomas’ Lucas Wahlin was the conference’s Forward of the Week. Lake Superior State saw Ethan Langenegger claim Goaltender of the Week honors.

CCHA Forward: Lucas Wahlin, So., St. Thomas (Woodbury, Minn.)
Wahlin led the Tommies to a weekend sweep of Northern Michigan, recording four points on three goals and an assist. He netted a pair of goals, including a shorthanded, game-winning tally on Friday to help St. Thomas to a 4-2 victory. He then collected a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win on Saturday night. For the week, he was a +3 with seven shots on goal and one block at the defensive end of the ice.
CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Chase Pietila, Fr., Michigan Tech (Howell, Mich.)
Pietila paced all conference blueliners with three points last week, helping the Huskies to a sweep of Augustana. Posting a +2 rating across the two contests, he was second among CCHA skaters in blocked shots (6). On Friday, was a +1 with two blocked shots in a 6-4 comeback win. He then assisted on three goals, including the overtime-winning tally in a 4-3 triumph on Saturday, while blocking a game-high four shots at the defensive end.
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Ethan Langenegger, Sr., Lake Superior State (Kamloops, B.C.)
The CCHA leader in wins (2) and saves (57) on the weekend, Langenegger turned away 57 of the 61 shots he faced in the Lakers’ sweep of Bemidji State. Posting a 1.96 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage, his weekend was highlighted by stopping 30-of-31 shots in a 5-1 victory on Saturday night. Helping the LSSU penalty to a 7-for-8 weekend, he made seven saves while the Lakers were shorthanded.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Isaac Gordon, Fr., Michigan Tech (Landmark, Man.)
Gordon powered Michigan Tech to a sweep of Augustana last weekend, scoring four goals – including his first collegiate hat trick – with one assist for five points. Posting a +1, he had two power-play tallies and one empty-netter, while recording 10 shots on goal which ranked second among league rookies. His weekend was highlighted by scoring a hat trick on Friday, which helped Tech climb out of a 4-2 first-period hole to win 6-4. On Saturday, he opened the scoring in the contest, while registering seven shots, as Michigan Tech once again earned a come-from-behind win, in overtime (4-3).
