Mason Cup Semifinal Preview

The puck drops on the 2023 Mason Cup Semifinal round Saturday night in Mankato and Houghton as top-seeded Minnesota State and second-seeded Michigan Tech host sixth-seeded Ferris State and fourth-seeded Northern Michigan, respectively. The winners of the two contests, which both start at 6:07pm local time, will square off in the conference championship next Saturday.

No. 13 Minnesota State looks to continue its defense of the CCHA's Mason Cup Championship at home against Ferris State on Saturday after splitting the season series with the Bulldogs. Ferris earned a rare road sweep the last time it was in Mankato and will try to find that magic once again. The Mavericks hold a 34-11-2 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to 1992.

Upper Peninsula rivals No. 10 Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan battle for the fifth time in 2022-23 on Saturday, with the winner advancing to the Mason Cup Championship game. The Huskies took 3-of-4 games during the regular season, including the last three, while the Wildcats' victory came in overtime back on December 2. Michigan Tech continues to lead the all-time series, 81-78-14, since the first meeting in 1979.
