CCHA Forward of the Week: Brendan Furry, Sr., Minnesota State (Toledo, Ohio)
Furry recorded three points on a goal and two assists to help Minnesota State to a 7-2 victory over Ferris State in the Mason Cup Semifinals on Saturday night. Netting the game-winning tally on the power play, he was a +2 for the night with a game-best five shots on goal. He earned assists on the Maverick’s fourth and sixth goals of the evening.
CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Jake Livingstone, Jr., Minnesota State (Creston, B.C.)
Livingstone recorded a league-high four points last week, helping the Mavericks to a 7-2 victory over Ferris State in the Mason Cup Semifinals. He was a +2 for the game and his lone tally came on the man-advantage. His first helper came on Minnesota State’s go-ahead goal in the first period and he proceeded to help set up two more goals in the third to help secure the victory. Defensively, he blocked a game-high four shots.
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Beni Halasz, Fr., Northern Michigan (Budapest, Hungary)
Halasz stopped all 44 shots he faced – tying a career-high – in leading Northern Michigan to a 4-0 victory over Michigan Tech in the Mason Cup Semifinals last Saturday. He made 10 saves in the first period, 19 in the second and 15 in the third to earn his third shutout of the season. He also stopped nine shots while the Wildcats were shorthanded, aiding a perfect 5-for-5 penalty kill.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Christian Fitzgerald, Fr., Minnesota State (Coquitlam, B.C.)
Fitzgerald notched three points on a goal and two assists, with two shots, to help Minnesota State to a 7-2 victory over Ferris State in the Mason Cup Semifinals on Saturday night. Finishing even for the game, he scored the Mavericks’ first goal of the contest, before assisting on their go-ahead tally moments later. He capped off the night by picking up a helper on the final goal of the game.
