Jake Livingstone Selected Defenseman of the Year

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) today announced that Minnesota State junior Jake Livingstone has been named the CCHA’s Defenseman of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Livingstone (Creston, B.C.) leads all CCHA skaters with 26 assists to go along with eight goals for 34 points, which ranks fourth in the league. His 0.92 points per game are fifth and his 52 blocked shots are ninth. He leads conference defensemen in games played (37), goals, assists, power play goals (3) and game-winning goals (2). The All-CCHA First Team selection is fourth in plus-minus (+12). 

The CCHA Defenseman of the Month in October, Livingstone was a four-time Defenseman of the Week in the conference. 

Livingstone paced all CCHA blueliners in points (22) and assists (17), netting five goals, while playing in all 26 league contests for Minnesota State. Third among all skaters in assists, he was fourth overall in game-winning goals (2) and plus-minus (+9), with three multi-point games. Recording 61 shots on goal, the October CCHA Defenseman of the Month had one power play tally and 28 blocks at the defensive end of the ice, while helping the Mavericks to a 2.15 team goals-against average. 

Voting for the 2022-23 All-CCHA Teams and CCHA Players/Coach of the Year awards were conducted by the eight head coaches at each CCHA member institution, based on CCHA conference games only. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players or themselves. 

The league's major award announcements continue today with the Goaltender of the Year (1pm ET/12pm CT) and Forward of the Year (2pm ET/1pm CT). Tomorrow, the conference’s Coach of the Year (11am ET/10am CT) and Player of the Year (1pm ET/12pm CT) will be revealed. 

The 2023 Mason Cup Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday night in Mankato, Minn. (6:07pm CT), where top-seed Minnesota State (24-12-1) hosts fourth-seed Northern Michigan (21-16-0) with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Championship on the line.
