Minnesota State, which defeated Bemidji State, 2-1, in last year's title game, earned their way into this year's final with a 7-2 triumph over Ferris State last Saturday. The Mavericks have 3-of-4 meetings this season, with the Wildcats' lone victory coming in Mankato on November 18 - a 3-2 overtime win. Northern Michigan is making its third tournament championship game appearance since 2018 and its first Mason Cup title game appearance since 2010. Prior to last year's win, Minnesota State last took home its league tournament title in 2019. Saturday is the first time that these two programs have played for a conference championship.
