St. Thomas made dramatic strides in season two of its Division I era in 2022-23. Despite losing 10 one-goal decisions and five two-goal scores, the Tommies were the most improved program in D-I men's hockey across several metrics, including an eight-win jump from the 2021-22 season. In the College Hockey Stats D-I men's hockey power rankings, the Purple moved from No. 59 at the end of season one to No. 40 last season.
