Men's Ice Hockey 6/28/2023 9:19:51 AM Augustana University Athletic Communications Inaugural Roster Set for AU Vikings SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana hockey will open its inaugural campaign with 26 members on its roster. The first Vikings squad will have 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders. Below are each member of the team, with bios. Forwards Hunter Bischoff | Freshman | 6-1 | Cohasset, Minn. | Youngstown Phantoms (USHL) Before Augustana: Bischoff played for the Anchorage Wolverines (NAHL) in the 2021-22 season where he racked up 13 goals and 23 assists. He then went to play for the Youngstown Phantoms (USHL) for the 2022-23 season where he had a total of four goals and six assists. Prior to playing for the NAHL and USHL Bischoff played high school hockey for Grand Rapids High School. Personal: Hunter was born on March 24, 2003, in Cohasset, Minnesota, to parents Laura and Don. Hunter has three siblings: Morgan, Lucky and Mercury. He enjoys tennis, golf, hunting, fishing and playing cards when he is not playing hockey. Hunter plans to earn a degree in business management while also wanting to play hockey as long as he can. Owen Bohn | Freshman | 5-11 | Morgan Hill, Calif. | Victoria Grizzlies (BCHL) Before Augustana: Owen previously played for the Victoria Grizzlies (BCHL) for the 2022-23 season where he tallied 23 goals and 24 assists in a total of 46 games. Previous to that, he played for the Wenatchee Wild (BCHL) in the 2021-22 season where he tallied 14 goals and 15 assists in 42 games. He has also played for the San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U AAA team, Philadelphia Hockey Club, and Willow Glen High. Personal: Owen was born on February 12, 2002, in Morgan Hill, California. His parents are Sue and Mike and he has two siblings, Madison and Taylor. He enjoys playing a round of golf, working out, playing video games and hiking when he is not playing hockey. He plans to major in business at Augustana. Chase Brand | 5th Year | 5-9 | Park Rapids, Minn. | St. Cloud State Honors and Awards: Academic All-Conference, 2020-21 NCHC Scholar \-Athlete Honors, 2021-22 NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete, NCAA Elite 90 Recipient Before Augustana: Chase previously attended St. Cloud State University where he played from 2019-23. He tallied 14 goals and 20 assists in 117 games for the Huskies while advancing to the NCAA Division I Frozen Four in 2021. Before playing college hockey, he played with the Brookings Blizzard (NAHL) from 2016-18 where he tallied 17 goals and 26 assists. He then went to play for the Madison Capitols (USHL) for the 2018-19 season where he scored 17 goals and 37 assists. That broke the team's single-season scoring record and he was named team MVP. Personal: Chase was born on February 25, 1999, in Park Rapids, Minnesota, to parents Cami and Craig. He has one sibling, McKenna, and he enjoys golfing, wake surfing and being around family and friends when he is not playing hockey. He is pursuing his MBA while attending Augustana. Simon Falk | Junior | 6-3 | Vasteras, Sweden | Alaska-Fairbanks Before Augustana: Simon previously attended the Alaska-Fairbanks from 2021-23 where he played in 55 games tallying 12 goals and 5 assists. Prior to playing college hockey, he played for the Minnesota Magicians (NAHL) for the 2020-21 season where he tallied 15 goals and 16 assists. Personal: Simon was born on January 20, 2000, in Stockholm, Sweden, to parents Martina and Johan. He has three siblings: Emma, Axel and Karl. His twin, Karl, plays for the Alaska-Fairbanks. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and taking his dog, Enzo, on walks. Simon is planning to major in business administration at Augustana. Colton Friesen | Sophomore | 5-10 | Winnipeg, Manitoba | Wisconsin-Superior Honors and Awards: 2022-23 WIAC Newcomer of the Year, 2023 WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team, MJHL Rookie of the Month in September 2018 Before Augustana: Colton previously attended the Wisconsin-Superior where he played during the 2022-23 season. While a Yellowjacket, he scored a total of 11 goals and recorded 11 assists. Before playing college hockey, he played for the Anchorage Wolverines (NAHL) in the 2021-22 season where he was named an NAHL top-team all-star and tournament MVP. While competing for the New Hampshire Monarchs in 2020 and 2021, he was named a USPHL NCDC All-Star. Throughout his four-year junior career (Manitoba Junior Hockey League, US Premier Hockey League and North American Hockey League), played in 214 games scoring 50 goals and assisting on 86 others. Personal: Colton was born on December 9, 2001, in Winnipeg, Canada, to Traci and Bob. He has two siblings, Taylor and Kayla, and he enjoys playing golf while he is not playing hockey. He is planning to major in business while at Augustana. Callum Gau | Freshman | 6-2 | Camrose, Alberta | Camrose Kodiaks (AJHL) Before Augustana: Gau played with the Camrose Kodiaks (AJHL) from 2018-23 where he racked up a total of 63 goals and 51 assists in 216 games. His team made the playoffs all four seasons he was there and he was named captain in his fourth year. Personal: Callum was born on June 19, 2002, in Camrose, Alberta, to parents Christine and Shane. He has three siblings: Cowan, Hannah and Camryn, and he enjoys playing golf and fishing when he is not playing hockey. He plans to earn his degree in business administration at Augustana. Will Howard | Freshman | 6-2 | Grand Forks, N.D. | New Mexico Ice Wolves (NAHL) Before Augustana: Howard played for the New Mexico Ice Wolves (NAHL) from 2020-2023 where he racked up 52 goals and 48 assists in his three years. He was named captain in his third year while also leading the team in goals. Prior to playing in the NAHL Howard played High School Hockey for Grand Forks Central High and Team North Dakota AAA. Personal: Will was born on July, 7th 2002, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to parents, Tarek and Tammy. Will has one sibling, Tatum, and likes to exercise and golf when he is not playing hockey. He plans to earn his degree in sport management. Brett Meerman | Freshman | 5-9 | Blackfalds, Alberta | Blackfalds Bulldogs (AJHL) Before Augustana: Brett played for the Blackfalds Bulldogs (AJHL) from 2021-23 where he tallied 55 goals and 101 assists in 120 games. He was named captain for both seasons and led his team into the playoffs for both years. Prior to Blackfalds, he played for the Grand Prairie Storm (AJHL) at the end of the 2019-20 season where he tallied eight goals and 11 assists. He then played 18 games in 2020-21 scoring four goals and tallying five assists. Personal: Brett was born on February 4, 2002, in Red Deer, Alberta, to parents Carol and Steeve. He has one sibling, Brooke. He enjoys tennis, weight lifting and running when he is not playing hockey and plans to earn a psychology degree. Luke Mobley | Junior | 6-3 | St. Louis Park, Minn. | Clarkson Before Augustana: Luke previously attended Clarkson University where he played from 2020-23. He played in 91 games scoring four goals and 17 assists. Before he played college hockey, he played for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL) during the 2018-19 season while racking up 19 goals and 28 assists in 59 games. He then moved to the USHL to play for the Muskegon Lumberjacks where he started the 2019-20 season by scoring seven goals and recording four assists. He finished that season with the Omaha Lancers (USHL) where he appeared in 33 games scoring 15 goals and 11 assists. Personal: Luke was born on November 25, 1998, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, to parents Jen and Scott. He has two siblings, Olivia and Jack, and he enjoys hanging out, playing guitar and going fishing in his free time. He plans to major in Psychology and minor in Business while here at Augustana and hopes to one day open his own business. Ryan Naumovski | 5th Year | 6-0 | Shelby Township, Mich. | Niagara Before Augustana: Ryan previously attended Niagara University for four years, scoring 23 goals and tallying 57 assists in 132 games. Before playing college hockey, he played for the New Jersey Titans (NAHL) in 114 games scoring 33 goals and totaling 105 points. Personal: Ryan was born on July 28, 1999, in Shelby Township, Michigan, to parents Vancho and Beba. He has one sibling, Dylan, and he enjoys playing golf when he is not playing hockey. He will pursue his MBA while attending Augustana. Quinn Rudrud | Sophomore | 6-3 | Farmington, Minn. | Alaska-Fairbanks Before Augustana: Quinn previously attended Alaska-Fairbanks as a freshman for the 2022-23 season. Before playing college hockey, he played for the Bismarck Bobcats (NAHL) for two seasons where he saw action in 97 career games. He tallied 63 points on 34 goals and 29 assists. Personal: Hailing from Farmington, Minnesota, Quinn is the son of Brenda and Greg. He has three siblings: Corey, Delaney and Cameron. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and fishing. Quinn plans to major in business administration while attending Augustana. Brian Silver | Junior | 5-11 | Lake Bluff, Ill. | Miami (Ohio) Honors and Awards: NCHC Academic All-Conference team (2021-22) Before Augustana: Brian previously played at Miami (Ohio) from 2020-23 where he produced three career points. Prior to playing for Miami, Silver skated three years for the Omaha Lancers (USHL) where he recorded 28 points in 99 games. Prior to joining the Lancers, he spent four years in the Chicago Mission Program from AAA to 16U levels. While he was in Chicago he won four straight titles and finished national runner-up twice. Personal: Brian was born on November 6, 2000, in Lake Bluff, Illinois to parents Jeff and Marianne Silver. He has six siblings: Matthew, Andrew, Eric, Mikey, Lexi and Johnny. He enjoys playing a round of golf and playing the guitar in his free time when he is not playing hockey. Brian plans to earn his degree in business administration. Ben Troumbly | Sophomore | 5-7 | Bovey, Minn. | Bismarck Bobcats (NAHL) Before Augustana: Tallied 20 goals and 36 assists in 109 games for the Bismarck Bobcats (NAHL) where he played from 2020-22. Before playing in the NAHL, he played for Greenway High School where he was a captain for three years. Personal: Ben was born on November 21, 2001, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to parents Lisa and AJ. He has one sibling, Grant, and he enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and wake surfing in his free time. He plans on pursuing both an accounting and finance degree while at Augustana. Arnaud Vachon | 5th Year | 6-2 | Ajax, Ontario | Colgate Honors and Awards: Rob Ries Memorial Award, Terry Slater Trophy, ECHA Hockey All-Academic Team three times, Colgate Raider Academic Honor Roll two times. Before Augustana: Arnaud previously attended Colgate University from 2019-23 where he played a total of 126 games while scoring 17 goals and recording 19 assists. He served as team captain his final season with the Raiders. Before playing college hockey, he was a 2015 ECEL U-16 Champion with The Hill Academy. He won the 2016-17 AJHL Championship with the Brooks Bandits (AJHL). He served as an assistant captain for the Bandits for two seasons and was a 2019 National Junior A Champion. He was named team MVP in that 2018-19 season and was also named Most Valuable Player in the National Junior A tournament game against Ottawa. Personal: Arnaud was born on May 13, 1998, in Laval, Montreal. His parents are Suzanne and Mario and he has two siblings, Andreanna, and Beatrice. He enjoys water sports or playing golf in his spare time. He plans to earn his MBA while attending Augustana. Defensemen Shay Donovan | Fifth Year | 6-3 | Duluth, Minn. | Wisconsin Honors and Awards: Named Academic All-Big Ten, UW Jeff Sauer Character Award Winner, Graduated with Honors from the University of Wisconsin Before Augustana: Shay previously attended Wisconsin where he played from 2019-23. Before playing college hockey, he played for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (NAHL) in 2018-19 where he had 4 goals and 8 points in 41 games. He also skated for the Minnesota Wilderness (NAHL) in the 2017-18 season. Personal: Shay was born on May 26, 1998, in Duluth, Minnesota, to parents Katie and Raymond. He has four siblings: Vanessa, Ryder, Boden, and Clara. He enjoys playing golf and wake surfing when he is not playing hockey and hopes to excel in the finance and real estate industries after he is done with his hockey career. He is planning to receive his MBA while attending Augustana. Hayden Hennen | Freshman | 6-4 | Hallock, Minn. | Anchorage Wolverines (NAHL) Before Augustana: Started the 2021-22 season playing for the Granite City Lumberjacks (NA3HL) where he appeared in two games scoring three goals. He finished the season with the Anchorage Wolverines (NAHL) where he played in 44 games scoring four goals and recording 10 assists for a total of 14 points. He spent the 2022-23 season as assistant captain with the Wolverines and had a total of 32 points with 24 assists and eight goals. Hennen played four years of high school hockey for Kittson Central High School where he was team captain his junior and senior seasons while leading his team to Northwest Conference Champions three years in a row. Personal: Hailing from Hallock, Minnesota, Hayden was born on August 13, 2002, to parents Shawna and Rod. He has three siblings, Madyson, Tyler and Brynn, and he enjoys golfing, fishing and hunting in his free time. Hayden is planning to earn a degree in communications at Augustana and hopes to one day coach at the college level. Jeff Hutchinson | Freshman | 6-2 | St. Louis, Mo. | New Mexico Ice Wolves (NAHL) Before Augustana: Tallied 14 goals and 43 assists in 150 games for the New Mexico Ice Wolves (NAHL) from 2020-23. He served as team captain for the 2022-23 season. Before playing in the NAHL, he played for the St. Louis Blues AAA 13U-18U from 2015-20. Personal: Jeff was born on May 2, 2002, in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents Julie and Raymond. Evan McIntyre | Junior | 5-10 | Oakville, Ontario | Ohio State Honors and Awards: A two-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten selection, 2018 Defenseman of the Year (CISAA) Before Augustana: Evan previously attended Ohio State where he played from 2020-23. He recorded 6 points in his time with the Buckeyes. Before playing college hockey, he played for Penticton (BCHL) in Canada for two seasons where he skated in 58 games in the 2019-20 regular season with 29 points on six goals and 23 assists. He also started the 2018-19 season with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders (USHL) before ending the year with Penticton posting seven points. Personal: Hailing from Oakville, Ontario, Evan was born on October 17, 2000, to Liza and Jason. He has one sibling, Brooke. He enjoys playing ping pong and golf in his free time when he is not playing hockey. He plans to earn a degree in economics while at Augustana and hopes to play professional hockey one day. Ethan Perrault | Freshman | 6-3 | Tipp City, Ohio | Johnsontown Tomahawks (NAHL) Before Augustana: Tallied 7 goals and 32 assists in 120 games for the Johnstown Tomahawks (NAHL) where he played from 2021-23. He served as captain in his second season. Before playing in the NAHL, he played for the Tri-State Spartans 16U in the 2019-20 season. Personal: Hailing from Tipp City, Ohio, Ethan was born on January 26, 2003, to parents Jennifer and Kelly. He has two siblings, Raymond and Maryn, and he enjoys hunting and fishing when he is not playing hockey. He plans to earn a degree in finance and business at Augustana. Uula Ruikka | Junior | 5-9 | Oulu, Finland | Providence College Before Augustana: Uula previously attended Providence College from 2020-23 where he appeared in 84 games totaling 22 points with five goals and 17 assists. Before playing college hockey, he played for the Chicago Steel (USHL) from 2018-20 where he appeared in 95 games and tallied eight goals with 25 assists and was named USHL Defenseman of the Week (11/25/19). Before playing in the USHL, he totaled 14 goals and 48 assists in 113 games with Karpat in the U18 SM-Sarja. Personal: Uula was born on May 28, 2000, in Oulu, Finland, to parents Ville and Mattiina. He has three siblings, Arttu, Anni, and Matilda. He enjoys fishing and playing golf when he is not playing hockey. He will work towards a sport management degree at Augustana while also wanting to become a coach. Anthony Stark | 5th Year | 5-9 | New York, New York | Colgate Honors and Awards: ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team three times Before Augustana: Stark previously played for Colgate University from 2019-23 where he saw action in 117 games and had a total of eight points. Before playing college hockey, he played two seasons with the Madison Capitols (USHL) where he tallied six goals and seven assists in 89 games. He also previously played 10 games with the Austin Bruins (NAHL) where he earned two assists. He is a 2017 graduate of Shattuck St. Mary's in Minnesota where he racked up 20 goals and 58 assists in his 147-game career. He also played tennis in his prep career. Personal: Anthony was born on April 9, 1999, in New York, New York to Debbie and Anthony Sr. He is a triplet with Angelica and Alessandra and he plans to get his MBA while attending Augustana. Will Svenddal | Sophomore | 6-1 | Minneapolis, Minn. | Minnesota Magicians (NAHL) Honors and Awards: State Tournament All-Tournament Team for Class AA Herb Brooks Award Winner (2019-20), Class AA Hobey Baker Character Award Winner (2019-20), Reed Larson Award Candidate All-Metro Third Team (2019-20) Before Augustana: Tallied six goals and 32 assists in 99 games for the Minnesota Magicians (NAHL) from 2020-2022. He served as alternate captain during his 2021-22 season. He played in the MNHS Elite League in the Fall of 2018-19 and the Fall of 2019-20 where he racked up four goals and eight assists in 38 games. Personal: Will was born on October 12, 2001, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to parents Darcy and Troy. Will has a younger brother, Jake, and he enjoys golfing and spending time at his family's cabin when he's not playing hockey. He is pursuing his degree in accounting at Augustana. As one of the first two official members of the Viking hockey team, he hopes to help build a culture here at Augustana that everyone wants to be a part of. Brady Ziemer | Junior | 5-10 | Carver, Minn. | St. Cloud State Honors and Awards: NCHC Academic All-Conference and Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Honors. Before Augustana: Ziemer previously played at St. Cloud State from 2020-23 where he played in 51 games, scoring one goal and tallying three assists. Before St. Cloud State, he played junior hockey during the 2019-20 season with Green Bay (USHL). In 2018-19, he played for the Merritt Centennials (BCHL). Ziemer is a 2018 graduate of Holy Family Catholic HS where he was captain all four years. Personal: Brady was born on May 24, 2000, in Carver, Minnesota, to parents Nicole and Eric. He has two siblings, Brier and Brodie, and he enjoys fishing, hunting and going boating when he's not playing hockey. Brady plans to major in Finance while here at Augustana. Goaltenders Kayden Hargraves | Freshman | 6-1 | Cheyenne, Wyoming | Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL) Honors and Awards: Midwest Division Star of the Week four times with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, Community Service Award (2022). Before Augustana: Hargraves spent three seasons with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL) from 2020-23 totaling 118 games in the net. In his rookie campaign, he owned 2.60 goals against average while saving 91 percent of shot attempts. In the second year, that goals against average lowered to 2.56 while stopping 91.8 percent of shot attempts. In his final season, his GAA was 2.92 with a save percentage of 91.5 percent while tallying five shutouts. Personal: Kayden was born February 24, 2002, in Broomfield, Colorado, and is the son of Kevin. He has one sibling, McKenna, and he enjoys golf, fishing and hunting when he is not playing hockey. He plans to earn his degree in business and economics at Augustana. Josh Kotai | Freshman | 6-2 | Abbotsford, British Columbia | Battleford North Stars (SJHL) Before Augustana: Josh previously played for the Battleford North Stars (SJHL) for the 2022-23 season where he appeared in 39 games. He ended the season with a 32-4-3 record with a 2.39 GAA and a .935 save percentage. Before playing for the North Stars, he played for the Vermont Lumberjacks (EHL) for the 2021-22 season where he appeared in 17 games and had an 8-7-1 record. He finished with a 3.09 GAA and a .909 save percentage. Personal: Josh was born on March 13, 2003, in Abbotsford, British Columbia, to parents Alex and Meghan. He has three siblings Reilley, Nick, and Alleigh. Zach Rose | Senior | 6-1 | Paradise, Newfoundland | Bowling Green Honors and Awards: CCHA Goaltender of the Week (10/10/22), 2022-23, 2021-22 CCHA All-Academic, 2022-23, 2021-22 CCHA Scholar-Athlete, 2020-21 WCHA Scholar-Athlete, 2020-21 WCHA All-Academic. Before Augustana: Zach previously played at Bowling Green from 2019-23. He started his freshman year standing in goal for five games, concluded the season with a 2-2-1 record and ended with a 2.20 GAA and a .905 save percentage totaling 105 saves. He appeared in 10 games in his sophomore season and finished the season with a 7-2-0 record and a 1.98 GAA. He registered a .908 save percentage with 178 saves on 196 attempts. He appeared in 13 games his junior season and ended the season with a 6-4-2 record and finished with a 3.23 GAA and a .881 save percentage. His senior season he appeared in five games and earned a 3-1-0 record and 115 saves. A highlight came as he stopped 38-of039 shots in a win at Michigan State. He concluded his BGSU career ranked sixth all-time with 2.69 goals against average and 10th with a career save percentage of .894. Personal: Zach was born on July 3, 1999, in Paradise, Newfoundland to parents Robert and Rojean. He has one sibling Anna. He enjoys cooking, hiking and golfing when he is not playing hockey.
