CCHA Forward of the Week: Stepan Pokorny, Sr., Ferris State (Kolin, Czech Republic)
Pokorny scored five goals for five points, leading the Bulldogs to a road sweep of Augustana on opening weekend for Midco Arena. He matched an NCAA single-game, season-high with four goals on Saturday night, including the overtime-winner in a 4-3 victory over the Vikings. For the week, he recorded a league-best 11 shots on goal and was fourth in both face-off wins (21) and plus-minus (+2).
CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Evan Murr, Fr., Minnesota State (Stillwater, Minn.)
Murr scored a goal and was second among all conference skaters with a +3 rating last weekend, as the Mavericks picked up four points at home. He netted a power play tally in a 2-2 tie on Friday against Northern Michigan and was a game-best +2 in Minnesota State’s 4-0 shutout of the Wildcats on Saturday. For the week, he totaled three shots on goal and blocked two at the defensive end of the ice.
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Easton Hesse, Jr., Lake Superior State (Beaumont, Alb.)
Hesse recorded league-highs in save percentage (.971) and total saves (67) last weekend, ranking second in goals-against average (1.01) to help the Lakers to a series split with Michigan Tech. On Friday, he made 34 saves in a 3-1 victory over the Huskies, before stopping 33-of-34 shots in a 1-0 loss on Saturday. For the week, he made 14 saves while Lake Superior State was shorthanded, helping the team to a 7-for-7 penalty kill.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Isaac Gordon, Fr., Michigan Tech (Landmark, Man.)
Gordon led all conference rookies with two points last week, scoring a goal and assisting on another in a road split with Lake Superior State. Posting a +2 rating, he was third among all CCHA skaters with 10 shots on goal. On Friday, he scored the Huskies’ only goal in a 3-1 loss to the Lakers, before setting up the game-winner in a 1-0 victory on Saturday.
