Kotai Named Co-National Goaltender of the Month

Augustana University sophomore goaltender Josh Kotai has been named the Hockey Commissioners’ Association’s Co-Men’s National Goaltender of the Month for October, it was announced on Friday, along with University of Notre Dame junior Owen Say.
 
Kotai (Abbotsford, B.C.) went 3-2-0 with a 1.63 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage across five October starts for the Vikings. The CCHA leader in save percentage and shutouts (2), he turned away 151 shots in 294:24 minutes of action, for an average of 30.2 saves per game.

Posting the highest save percentage in the nation among netminders with four or more starts and his two shutouts were also tops in the country.
 
Denver University senior forward Jack Devine was tabbed HCA Men’s National Player of the Month for October, while Union College freshman forward Ben Muthersbaugh earned Men’s National Rookie of the Month. 

Kotai is the first CCHA goaltender to earn national monthly honors since Dryden McKay in March/April of 2022 and the first overall since Jared Westcott in November of 2023.
