The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for November 14-16 and four student-athletes from four different programs have been recognized. Cooper Gay (St. Thomas) earned Forward of the Week, while Breck McKinley (Bowling Green) was the league’s Defenseman of the Week. Mattias Sholl (Bemidji State) collected his first Goaltender of the Week this season and Will Diamond (Northern Michigan) garnered the Rookie of the Week honors.

CCHA Forward of the Week: Cooper Gay, Jr., St. Thomas (Hanover, Minn.)
Gay paced all CCHA skaters with four points last week, scoring three goals and assisting on another to help the Tommies take four points for their series with Bowling Green. Posting a +1 for the weekend, his three tallies all came on the man advantage. On Friday, he had a hand in both St. Thomas goals in a 2-2 tie, scoring once and assisting on another. He then potted two power-play goals in a 6-3 Tommies victory on Saturday.
CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Breck McKinley, So., Bowling Green (St. Albert, Alb.)
McKinley produced a pair of points (1 goal, 1 assist) last week, helping Bowling Green earn two points at St. Thomas. He scored the tying goal in an eventual shootout victory for the Falcons on Friday night, before assisting on Bowling Green’s third goal of the night in a 6-3 defeat on Saturday. For the week, he was even with six shots on goal and one block at the defensive end of the ice.
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Mattias Sholl, Sr., Bemidji State (Hermosa Beach, Calif.)
Scholl went 1-1-0 with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage last week, leading Bemidji State to a split with No. 3 Minnesota. Stopping a CCHA-high 72 shots on the weekend, he came 2:12 from recording BSU’s first-ever shutout of the Gophers on Saturday in a 3-1 win. For the weekend, he saved 10-of-11 shots while the Beavers were shorthanded, helping the penalty kill to a 4-for-5 showing. His 38 total saves on Saturday were a season high.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Will Diamond, Fr., Northern Michigan (Carpentersville, Ill.)
Diamond scored the game-tying goal – the first of his collegiate career – on Saturday night at No. 16 Minnesota State. The Wildcats went on to take two points with a shootout win that night. For the weekend, he recorded one shot on goal.
