The Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) has announced the semifinalists for the 2024 Mike Richter Award and University of St. Thomas junior Jake Sibell is one of 10 goaltenders advancing to the next stage, as voted on by a panel from across the hockey community. The award is given annually to the top goalie in men’s NCAA Division I hockey since 2014.
Sibell (Isanti, Minn.) has played in 12 games for the Tommies so far this season, posting a 7-5-0 record. He has a 1.88 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage, which rank second and first in the nation, respectively. He has made 25+ saves seven times this season and 30+ stops twice. While he has yet to record a shutout, he has allowed exactly one goal in seven outings this season and more than three goals just once.
A semifinalist for the first time in his career, Sibell has been named CCHA Goaltend of the Week twice this season, as well as Goaltender of the Month in October.
