Ten Nominated for Hobey Baker from CCHA

Ten student-athletes from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) have been nominated for the 2025 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given annually to the top player in NCAA Division I hockey. 
 
Caiden Gault (Ferris State), Josh Kotai (Augustana), Liam Malmquist (St. Thomas), Connor Milburn (Lake Superior State), Ryan Ouellette (Northern Michigan), Rhett Pitlick (Minnesota State), Stiven Sardarian (Michigan Tech), Mattias Sholl (Bemidji State), Sasha Teleguine (Lake Superior State) and Alex Tracy (Minnesota State) represent the CCHA on this year’s ballot for the Hobey Baker Award.


 
Fan balloting for the 2025 Hobey Baker Award is open through Sunday, Mar. 9 at midnight ET. This year's nominees include over 90 skaters representing 64 NCAA Division I schools. Award criteria include candidates exhibiting the exceptional character traits of the award's namesake, Hobey Baker. A legendary American hero, Baker was a World War I fighter pilot and was known as America's greatest amateur athlete in his day, excelling at hockey and football at Princeton University. Award candidates must demonstrate strength of character both on and off the ice, contribute to the integrity of his team and display outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.

In 2022, Minnesota State goaltender Dryden McKay became the first player in program history to earn the prestigeous honor. 

The top ten finalists for the 2025 Hobey Baker will be announced on March 19. Voting will be open until March 30 in phase two. The announcement of the final three finalists will take place on April 3, with the winner being announced on April 11.
