Weekend Preview: More League Openers

No. 18 Minnesota State and St. Thomas get their conference schedules underway with a home-and-home series that begins at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, while Northern Michigan opens its league account at Augustana. Bemidji State heads to Bowling Green in a battle of teams off to hot starts in the league.

In non-league action, Ferris State hosts Lindenwood for a pair and Michigan Tech joins Lake Superior State on a trip east to face Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Friday night, respectively, before trading opponents on Saturday.

The Huskies travel east to take on ECAC Hockey-foes Clarkson and St. Lawrence this weekend on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Golden Knights own an 8-3-1 advantage in the all-time series, while Tech is 9-3-3 against the Saints dating back to 1960. Michigan Tech's opposition are travel partners in ECAC Hockey and are just 11 miles apart in Upstate New York.

Lake Superior State visits St. Lawrence and Clarkson out ECAC Hockey this weekend, following a home sweep at the hands of Bowling Green. The Lakers and Saints have met 22 times, including the 1988 National Championship, in which LSSU won, 4-3 in overtime. Overall, St. Lawrence is 12-6-4 in the series. The Lakers and Clarkson have split their eight meetings since 2006 (4-4-0), including a 4-3 overtime victory for Lake Superior State in the most recent meeting in 2023-24.

The Bulldogs return home, after dropping a pair of CCHA games at Michigan Tech last week, to face Lindenwood in a two-game, non-league set. The meetings will be the first between the two programs. Lindenwood dropped matching 5-4 overtime decisions to Miami (OH) last weekend.

Bowling Green welcomes Bemidji State to Slater Family Ice Arena this weekend in a match-up of unbeaten teams in conference play. The Beavers took 5-of-6 points from Augustana at home last week, while the Falcons swept Lake Superior State on the road. Entering the weekend, BSU and BGSU have split their 46 meetings all-time, 21-21-4.

The Vikings host Northern Michigan for a CCHA series at Midco Arena this weekend, which marks the first two conference games for the Wildcats. The Vikings were only able to muster a single point out of their road trip to Bemidji State last weekend, while NMU dropped two to No. 1 Michigan State to close out its non-league schedule. Augie has never lost to Northern Michigan in its brief history, boasting a 3-0-1 mark.

No. 18/19 Minnesota State makes its first trip to Lee & Penny Anderson Arena on Friday night to open a home-and-home CCHA series with the Tommies. A rematch of the 2025 Mason Cup Championship game, the series flips to Mankato on Saturday night. The Mavericks are 14-4-1 all-time against St. Thomas, but just 6-4-1 since the Tommies' first victory in the series in 2023.
