Men's Ice Hockey 10/9/2025 3:40:54 PM Tracy Invited to USCS Spengler Cup Team The United States Collegiate Select hockey team has announced the “First Five” members of its inaugural squad and Aiden Fink (Penn State), Mac Gadowsky (Penn State), Jake Livanavage (North Dakota), Joey Muldowney (Connecticut), and Alex Tracy (Minnesota State) have been selected. The five are all returning AHCA/CCM All-Americans and represent four of the six NCAA men’s ice hockey conferences. A junior forward from Calgary, Alberta, Fink was a Second Team AHCA/CCM All-America selection and Hobey Baker Top-10 Finalist a season ago. Penn State’s first-ever unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection, he recorded a school-record 53 points last season, which was good for fourth nationally, while his 1.33 points per game were second in the Big Ten and third in the nation. His 30 assists were the most in the Big Ten and tied for seventh nationally while his 23 goals were third in the conference and ninth in the nation. Gadowsky, a junior defenseman out of State College, Pa., garnered First Team AHCA/CCM All-America recognition at Army in 2024-25, after posting 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points – third-most in the country among blueliners. His goal total was fourth in the AHA while his points total was second in the league. He logged 33 points in 26 conference games, for a mark of 1.27 points per contest. His honors throughout the season included a pair of AHA Defenseman of the Month honors, while receiving Defenseman of the Week recognition five times. A junior defenseman who hails from Phoenix, Ariz., Livanavage was a Second Team AHCA/CCM All-America honoree last season, collecting four goals and 24 assists for 28 points for North Dakota. During NCHC play, Livanavage led the Fighting Hawks with 21 points, including 18 helpers, while finishing with a +4 rating and becoming only the fifth defenseman at North Dakota to earn an All-NCHC First Team selection and the first UND underclassman defenseman to earn first team recognition since 2000-01. Totaling seven games with multiple points, including a trio of games with three points, he was also dominant on the defensive side of the puck, pacing the team with 68 blocked shots and ranking 10th in the nation with over 25 minutes of ice time per game. Muldowney, a junior forward from Lake View, N.Y., led UConn to a historic season in 2024-25, earning a Second Team AHCA/CCM All-America selection after scoring 29 goals, which ranked second amongst Division I skaters. Finishing the season with 47 points, he led the Huskies and set a program single-season record. He became the program record-holder for most hat tricks (3) and goals scored in a single season in the Hockey East era, earning Hockey East Second Team All-Star honors, as well as New England Hockey Writers Association Most Improved Player. A senior goaltender out of Chicago, Ill., Tracy earned Second Team AHCA/CCM All-America recognition at Minnesota State last season, while also being named a Mike Richter Award Finalist and Hobey Baker Award Top-10 Finalist. The CCHA Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year, he led the nation in goals against average (.946) and save percentage (1.42), going 26-9-3 in 38 games, including five shutouts, which was good for third in the nation. His 961 total saves ranked second in the CCHA and sixth nationally, surrendering only 39 even-strength goals. The three-time CCHA Goaltender of the Month and five-time Goaltender of the Week, he was also the CCHA Student-Athlete of the Year and a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-America selection. All returning First and Second Team AHCA/CCM All-Americans received an automatic invitation to the roster. Additional players will be announced in the coming weeks. The United States Collegiate Selects will face Team Canada to open play Spengler Cup play on December 26. Each team will play a minimum of three contests and maximum of five during the six-day event. The tournament is being broadcast to over 20 countries, either through a partner or via livestream. Official word on how the games can be seen in the United States will be announced at a later date. The U.S. Collegiate Select team will be made up of 25 student-athletes from across NCAA men’s ice hockey, with each conference being represented. The competition runs from December 26-31, with the six participating teams. Along with the Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, Sparta Praha and IFK Helsinki will be taking part in the 2025 edition.
