Kotai Joins Tracy on USCS Roster

The United States Collegiate Selects hockey team has announced the addition of seven players to the 2025 Spengler Cup roster on Thursday and Augustana junior goaltender Josh Kotai has been selected and will join Minnesota State's Alex Tracy as the CCHA representatives. The newcomers complete the team’s total roster at 25 student-athletes, who will compete in Davos in December.
 
Kotai is 6-4-0 with a 1.81 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage, which both rank fifth nationally. His 280 total saves through 10 starts ranks second in the country and he has recorded 40+ saves twice, including a 40-save shutout at Minnesota Duluth on October 11. Among active NCAA netminders with at least 50 games played, he ranks first in save percentage (.928) and third in goals-against average (2.23). The All-CCHA Second Team selection and Mike Richter Award Finalist is a two-time Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) National Goaltender of the Month.
 
The complete 25-player roster consists of 15 forwards, seven defensemen, and three goaltenders. Nine are from the Big Ten, six are from Hockey East, six are from the NCHC, two are from the CCHA and one representative each are coming from ECAC Hockey and the AHA.

Hughes (Michigan), Cole Knuble (Notre Dame), Martins Lavins (New Hampshire), Joey Muldowney (UConn), Jack Musa (UMass), Danny Nelson (Notre Dame), Zam Plante (Minnesota Duluth), Jack Stockfish (Holy Cross), Ryan Walsh (Cornell), JJ Wiebusch (Penn State).
 
Defensemen (7): Vinny Borgesi (Northeastern), Mac Gadowsky (Penn State), Larry Keenan (UMass), Jake Livanavage (North Dakota), Gavin McCarthy (Boston University), Eric Pohlkamp (Denver), Abram Wiebe (North Dakota).
Goaltenders (3): Adam Gajan (Minnesota Duluth), Josh Kotai (Augustana), Alex Tracy (Minnesota State).
 
All returning First and Second-Team AHCA/CCM All-Americans received an automatic invitation to the team. The remainder of the roster, which includes representation from all six conferences, was constructed by the USCS coaching staff and organizing committee, with guidance from the NHL scouts.
 
The United States Collegiate Selects will face Team Canada to open play Spengler Cup play on December 26. Each team will play a minimum of three contests and maximum of five during the six-day event. The tournament is being broadcast to over 20 countries, either through a partner or via livestream. Official word on how the games can be seen in the United States will be announced at a later date.
 
The U.S. Collegiate Select team is made up of 25 student-athletes from across NCAA men’s ice hockey. The competition runs from December 26-31, with the six participating teams. Along with the Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, Sparta Praha and IFK Helsinki will be taking part in the 2025 edition.
