CCHA Players of the Week: Oct. 31-Nov. 1

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for October 31-November 1 and four student-athletes from four different programs have been recognized. William Ahlrik (Lake Superior State) was selected Forward of the Week, while Hudson Thornton (Bemidji State) garnered the Defenseman of the Week honors. Josh Kotai (Augustana) was the Goaltender of the Week and Teydon Trembecky (Michigan Tech) earned Rookie of the Week.

CCHA Forward of the Week: William Ahlrik, So., Lake Superior State (Tidaholm, Sweden) 

 
Ahlrik led the nation with five points last week, scoring two goals with three assists to lead Lake Superior State to an unbeaten non-league road trip. He was a +3 with two shots on goal and one power-play tally. His 67.6% winning percentage in the face-off circle was second-best nationally among centers who took at least 30 draws. On Friday, he had a goal and an assist in a come-from-behind 3-3 tie at St. Lawrence. He then netted a goal and dished out two helpers in a 6-2 win at Clarkson on Saturday.



CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Hudson Thornton, So., Bemidji State (Winnipeg, Man.) 
 
Thornton paced conference blueliners with three points on a goal two assists last week, helping the Beavers take 4-of-6 points from their road CCHA series against Bowling Green. Netting a game-winning goal, he had two shots and four blocks defensively. On Friday, he had two blocks in a 4-4 tie with the Falcons, in which Bemidji State won in a shootout. He then scored the overtime-winner and had two assists in a 3-2 overtime victory on Saturday night.



CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Josh Kotai, Jr., Augustana, (Abbotsford, B.C.) 
 
Kotai went 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .970 save percentage, which was good for second-best nationally among two-start netminders. Turning away 65-of-67 shots in a home sweep of Northern Michigan, he had 24 saves in a 2-1 win on Friday, before stopping 41 shots in a 3-1 come-from-behind victory on Saturday.


 
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Teydon Trembecky, Fr., Michigan Tech (Sherwood Park, Alta.) 
 
Trembecky led CCHA rookies in goals (2) and points (3) last week, helping the Huskies to a 1-1 non-league road trip. He was even with a power-play tally, five shots on goal and one block. On Friday, he scored twice in a 6-4 loss at Clarkson, before setting up the eventual game-winning marker in a 3-0 shutout of St. Lawrence on Saturday.
