Weekend Preview: Gang's All Here

All nine CCHA teams are in action for the final time in 2024-25 this weekend, including four critical conference series. No. 15 Minnesota State travels to Lake Superior State with a chance to clinch their seventh MacNaughton Cup title in the last eight years. Bowling Green and Michigan Tech look to lock up home ice against Bemidji State and Ferris State, respectively, while St. Thomas tries to continue its second-half surge at Northern Michigan.

In non-league action No. 20 Augustana hosts Alaska in its final regular season series.

The 15th-ranked Mavericks can lock up a regular-season title this weekend, when they visit Lake Superior State. The Lakers, who are jockeying for postseason position, are coming off a split with Ferris State last week and in search of their first win over Minnesota State this season, after managing a loss and a tie earlier this year. The Mavericks own a 34-5-2 lead in the all-time series.

The Tommies enter the weekend five points out of the fourth and final home playoff position and will visit Northern Michigan for a two-game set. The Wildcats, who are officially eliminated from the Mason Cup Playoffs, look to play the role of spoiler in their final four regular-season contests. The two programs have split their previous eight meetings (4-4-0) and are meeting for the only time this season.

Michigan Tech welcomes the Bulldogs to Houghton for its final regular season home series this weekend. The Huskies can keep St. Thomas and Lake Superior State at arm's length and even clinch home ice with a big weekend, while Ferris State still has a shot to move up the standings. Tech owns a 34-18-3 lead in the all-time series and are 17-7-1 at home.

Bowling Green can clinch home ice in the Mason Cup Playoffs this weekend, when it visits Bemidji State for a two-game series. The Beavers picked up a five-point sweep their last time out at Michigan Tech and can climb out of the eighth spot in the standings with a successful showing against the Falcons. BGSU is 3-2-0 in its last five games, while BSU head coach Tom Serratore is sitting on 399 career victories.
