CCHA Players of the Month: February

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Month for February and four student-athletes from three different programs have been recognized. Lucas Wahlin (St. Thomas) earned Forward of the Month honors, while Evan Murr (Minnesota State) was the Defenseman of the Month. Claiming his second Goaltender of the Month award was Alex Tracy (Minnesota State) and Elias Jansson (Michigan Tech) became the Huskies' third straight Rookie of the Month.

CCHA Forward of the Month: Lucas Wahlin, Sr., St. Thomas (Woodbury, Minn.) 

 
Wahlin paced CCHA skaters in goals (5), points per game (1.50) and game-winning goals (2) during the month of February, leading St. Thomas to a 4-2-0 record. Also posting a +1 rating, he had one power play tally, 25 shots on goal and seven blocks. He won 73 draws during the month, which was good for the second-most in the league. Notching at least one point in 5-of-6 contests, his February was highlighted by scoring a goal and two assists for three points in a 4-3 victory at Northern Michigan on February 22.



CCHA Defenseman of the Month: Evan Murr, So., Minnesota State (Stillwater, Minn.) 
 
Murr led conference blueliners in assists (7) and points per game (1.17) last month, posting a +4 rating in six contests. Recording three multi-point games during February, he had 12 shots on goal with four blocks, helping the Mavericks post a 5-0-1 record and capture their ninth MacNaughton Cup title. His month was highlighted by setting up two goals, including the game-winning tally, in a 3-2 overtime victory at St. Thomas on February 1.



CCHA Goaltender of the Month: Alex Tracy, Jr., Minnesota State (Chicago, Ill.) 
 
Tracy went 5-0-1 with 0.99 goals-against average and a .966 save percentage in six February starts, posting one shutout. He totaled 170 saves across 364:07 minutes, averaging 28.3 stops per contest. Making 25 or more saves in all six appearances, he had two games with 30+ saves, including a month-best 32 in a shutout of Lake Superior State on February 21.



CCHA Rookie of the Month: Elias Jansson, Fr., Michigan Tech (Oulu, Finland) 
 
Jansson paced CCHA rookies with nine points in February, scoring five goals with four assists in seven games. Recording three power-play goals and one hat trick, he was a -2 with 19 shots on goal and two blocks. He picked up at least one point in 5-of-7 contests during the month, including three multi-point outings. His first collegiate hat trick came on February 8 against Bemidji State, which the Huskies lost in overtime, 6-5.
