Men's Ice Hockey 4/17/2025 6:57:58 PM Tracy Claims Third National Monthly Award Minnesota State junior Alex Tracy has been named the Hockey Commissioners’ Association’s Men’s Co-National Goaltender of the Month for March/April, it was announced on Thursday. He also garnered this acclaim in November and February. Tracy (Chicago, Ill.) went 4-1-0 in March, posting a 1.29 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage in five starts, posting one shutout. He totaled 138 saves across 326:35 minutes, averaging 27.6 stops per contest. Making 20 or more saves in all five appearances, Tracy recorded a high of 42 against eventual National Champion Western Michigan in the Regional Semifinals on March 27, in which the Mavericks fell, 2-1, in double-overtime. He notched a 27-save shutout in the Mason Cup Semifinals against Bemidji State - a 4-0 Minnesota State triumph, which clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament. He then turned away 29 in a 4-2 Mason Cup Championship Game victory over St. Thomas. For the season, the Mike Richter Award Finalist had a 26-9-3 record, with a 1.42 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage in 38 starts. Has made a total of 960 saves in 2317:05 minutes, with five shutouts. He led the nation in goals-against average and save percentage, while ranking second in wins, third in shutouts and seventh in total saves. Tim Washe (Western Michigan) was selected HCA Men’s National Player of the Month for March/April, while Cole Hutson (Boston University) was the Rookie of the Month. Tracy was joined by Matt Davis (Denver) and Connor Hasley (Bentley) as Co-Goaltenders of the Month. A three-time national monthly award-winner, Tracy was joined by fellow CCHA standouts Ryan Manzell (Michigan Tech) and Logan Morrell (Michigan Tech), who were selected Rookie of the Month in January and December, respectively, and fellow goaltender Josh Kotai (Augustana) who was honored in October.
