Weekend Preview: Semifinal Saturday

The 2026 Mason Cup Semifinals are on tap for Saturday after the top four seeds all advanced last weekend. Third-seed Augustana travels to second-seed St. Thomas for an afternoon puck drop (4:07 PM CT), while fourth-seed Michigan Tech heads to top-seed Minnesota State for the nightcap (7:07 PM CT). The winner of each contest advances to the Mason Cup Championship Game on Friday, March 20 (7:07 PM CT) at the highest remain seed.

The Vikings took 7-of-9 points from the regular season series going 1-0-2 with a pair of shootout wins, but St. Thomas brings the experience of reaching last year's Mason Cup Title game. Augie own a 4-1-2 lead in the all-time series, with UST's lone win coming Friday, November 1, 2024 - a 4-0 shutout in Mendota Heights.

Minnesota State and Michigan Tech renew their growing rivalry on Saturday night after both claimed victories in their quarterfinal match-ups last weekend. The Huskies swept Bowling Green by scores of 5-3 and 3-2, while the Mavericks were forced to a Game 3 by Ferris State, winning the clinching game, 2-0. The two teams split their regular season series, 2-2, with both teams sweeping at home. MSU is 57-32-11 all-time against the Huskies, but Tech got the better of Minnesota State in their most recent Mason Cup Semifinal clash in 2024, winning 4-3 in Houghton.
