Perry Laskaris was named the conference’s Director of Strategic Communications and Brand Advancement in August of 2022.

Laskaris joins the CCHA after spending 15 years in the athletics communications office at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), in Troy, N.Y. For the Engineers, he was responsible for managing the content for rpiathletics.com, as well as writing, editing and disseminating press releases, game stories and game notes to the media, campus community, fans and other constituency groups.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have Perry take over the role of CCHA Director of Communication and Brand Enhancement,” said Lucia. “Perry did an outstanding job with the men’s and women’s hockey programs at RPI, worked numerous ECAC Tournament Championships and NCAA Regionals. I look forward to working with him as he continues to grow the CCHA brand."

Laskaris was the primary contact for RPI’s Division I men’s and women’s hockey programs, as well as the school’s baseball, softball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse teams. Starting the department’s Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts during his time with the Engineers, he was responsible for taking and overseeing all in-house photography, including headshots, promotional photos and action photos.

Maintaining and managing statistics for a number of many of Rensselaer’s teams, Laskaris also oversaw game-day press box activity, including live stats, video and radio broadcasts. Aside from providing assistance to local, regional, national and international media, including radio, television, internet and print representatives, he also produced and edited highlights, press conferences and other videos for the department's YouTube Channel.

“I am grateful for the opportunity presented to me by Don Lucia and the CCHA,” said Laskaris. “I can’t wait to get to work promoting and celebrating the student-athletes from all nine schools in the league. I was impressed with what former communications director Dominic Hennig was able to accomplish in the league’s first year and am excited to keep things moving forward.”

On the national level, Laskaris has worked five NCAA Division I Regionals in at what is currently MVP Arena in Albany, N.Y. He aided the recording and distribution of statistics, media direction and post-game press conferences on site in 2008, 2010, 2016, 2021 and 2022. Serving as an administrator for a number of Liberty League Tournaments on RPI’s campus, he has also worked ECAC Hockey Tournaments at the Houston Field House in Troy, N.Y. and at the historic Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid.

Laskaris is also an experienced play-by-play broadcaster, having called numerous contests throughout his career on both radio and television. Highlights include calling the ECAC Hockey semifinals and final in both 2018 and 2019, men’s and women’s MAAC Basketball Tournament games in 2018 and the women’s ECAC Hockey Tournament semifinals and final in 2013. He was the lead play-by-play broadcaster for RPI men’s hockey, women’s hockey and baseball on the campus radio station, 91.5 FM, WRPI, from 2012 to 2022, before taking over calling home men’s and women’s hockey games on ESPN+ in 2021-22.

A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Laskaris is a 2007 graduate of Rensselaer, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media, Arts and Communications.
