Men's Ice Hockey 2/5/2026 2:00:00 PM Jack Anderson Garners National Monthly Award Michigan Tech senior assistant captain Jack Anderson has been named the Hockey Commissioners’ Association’s Men’s National Defenseman of the Month for January, it was announced on Thursday. He is the third CCHA student-athlete to garner such an honor this season, joining Minnesota State's Evan Murr, who was the Defenseman of the Month in November and Brett Meerman, who picked up Forward of Month honors in December. Anderson (St. Louis, Mo.) led all CCHA blueliners in goals (4), points (10), plus-minus (+12) and blocks (20) in January, helping No. 20 Michigan Tech to a 7-3-0 record. Third in minutes per game (23:48), he recorded 18 shots and was assessed just four penalty minutes. His month was highlighted by netting his first collegiate hat trick against Alaska Anchorage on January 3, before scoring a goal with two assists in 4-3 win at No. 15 St. Thomas on January 31. Blocking at least one shot in all 10 games last month, he had two games with four, which is one shy of his season-high. For the season, Anderson has six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 26 games. Anderson is joined on the monthly honor roll by Forward of the Month Jake Black (Bentley), Goaltender of the Month Michael Hrabel (UMass) and Co-Rookies of the Month Josh Flemming (Penn State) and Jack Parsons (Providence). The CCHA saw four student-athletes collect six month award from the Hockey Commissioners Association last year, including three by Mavericks netminder Alex Tracy.
