Biography

2020-21 (Sophomore): Laced his skates up in all 29 contests for the Wildcats in 2020-21 … recorded 14 points off three goals and 11 assists … tied his career-high points with three (1-2-3) in a 6-5 OT victory over FSU (12/30/20) … ranked second nationally in blocked shots, recording 79 shots blocked and averaging 2.72 per game … fired 55 shots on net … earned WCHA Defenseman of the Month honors for his postseason performance … named to the WCHA All-Academic team.

2019-20 (Freshman): Played in 36 games for the Wildcats in 2019-20 ... Posted a goal and seven assists for eight points during his rookie campaign ... Scored his first collegiate goal to open the scoring in an eventual 4-1 victory over top-ranked Minnesota State ... Was named WCHA Rookie of the Week following his two point night (1-1-2) against Minnesota State.

Before NMU: Spent three years with the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL ... Ammassed 46 points off seven goals and 39 assists ... In 57 games played in 2018-19 he had four goals and 27 assists.

Personal: Son of Carmen and Rick Van Unen. Originally from Kamloops, British Columbia. His twin brother, Rylan, has committed to play for NMU.
