MSU’s Livingstone named CCHA Defenseman of the Year

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) announced today that Minnesota State defenseman Jake Livingstone has been named the CCHA’s Defenseman of the Year. Livingstone, 22, led all CCHA Defensemen on the ballot, receiving four of a possible seven points, as voted on by the CCHA head coaches.

The Sophomore finished tied for second among all defensemen in CCHA conference play with 19 points, led CCHA defensemen in goals with seven and added 12 assists in 26 CCHA games played this campaign. The blueliner earned 0.73 points-per-game, tallied one game-winning goal, one shorthanded goal and an impressive plus-22 rating on the ice.

On the Mavericks roster, Livingstone finished sixth in points and fourth in blocked shots with 22 in CCHA conference play this season.

The Creston, B.C. native is a two-time CCHA Defenseman of the Month and was named CCHA Player of the Week in November.

Voting for the 2021-22 All-CCHA Teams and CCHA Players/Coach of the Year awards were conducted by the eight head coaches at each CCHA member institution, based on CCHA conference games only. Coaches voted for six forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders, followed by three rookie forwards and two rookie defensemen, all in descending order, and one rookie goaltender. Lastly, the eight CCHA head coaches voted for one  player or coach from each of the respective individual categories. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players or self.

The CCHA will announce its Forward of the Year Award today at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT.
