CCHA Forward of the Week: Gavin Best, Sr., Ferris State (Richfield, Minn.)
Best led all conference skaters with three goals, including the game-winner in Ferris State's 3-2 victory at defending national champion and nationally first-ranked Western Michigan on Thursday night. He was a +3 in the series, recording six shots on goal. He opened the weekend by scoring a third period tally in Kalamazoo, before netting a pair of goals at home on Friday in a 6-4 loss to the Broncos.
CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Adam Barone, So., Lake Superior State (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.)
Barone paced CCHA blueliners in points (3) last week for the Lakers, dishing out three assists and finishing with an even rating. He had one helper in a 5-4 loss to Lindenwood on Friday, before notching two more assists in a 7-4 defeat on Saturday. He also had three blocked shots and three shots on goal during the series.
CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Hobie Hedquist, Jr., Ferris State (Heron Lake, Minn.)
Hedquist turned away 48 of 50 shots in leading Ferris State to a 3-2 victory at defending national champion and nationally first-ranked Western Michigan on Thursday. Posting a 2.00 goals against average and a .960 save percentage - both good for second-best among conference netminders - he stopped all eight shots he faced while the Bulldogs where shorthanded, helping them going 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
CCHA Rookie of the Week: Oliver Auyeung-Ashton, Fr., Northern Michigan (Coquitlam, B.C.)
Auyeung-Ashton went 0-1-0 with a 1.53 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage in two games last week (one start), making 53 saves on 55 shots faced at No. 16 Ohio State. He opened the weekend by stopping all eight shots he faced in relief of William Gramme on Friday night. He then made 45 saves in a 3-1 loss to the Buckeyes on Saturday - the first start of his collegiate career.
