Captain of Team Slovakia at WJC

Northern Michigan University Men's Hockey freshman Tobias Pitka, a native of Poprad, Slovakia, has been named to the Slovakia National Junior Team roster that will compete at the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Dec. 26-Jan. 5.



The 2026 Slovakia National Junior Team is led by head coach Peter Frühauf, who is assisted by Andrew Boschetto, OIvan Svarny, and goaltending coach Peter Kosa.

In 14 games this season, Pitka has tallied three goals and three assists with 23 shots on goal. On Sunday, Slovakia U20 announced Pitka as the team Captain.

Slovakia will compete in Group A and will first battle Sweden in the Preliminary Round on Friday, Dec. 26 at 12 p.m. CT at Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul, Minnesota. To tune in, check out IIHF TV, the NHL Network, and other channels televised.
